Write on, write it on my own time.

Ok so there has been so many things I have wanted to say. When I'm out and about a bunch of topics come up and I oh so eloquently describe it in my head, then I get home and ... nothing. I got nothing.
Like those awful gladiator sandals that will be a lady's only option apparently this summer. I mean there cute, I have a pair, but seriously, they are everywhere. Either you will be wearing the old standby flip-flops or look like maximus in a pastel dress, because this season it's all about the pastel. I'm so over trends. Give me Yves or Christian and I'm a happy camper.
I think I need a moleskin just so I can write stuff down so I won't forget. I got lots of thoughts to get out and to share. I think that will be the plan.

oh it's been a lo-o-o-o-o-o-ng week

So I fell off the face of the planet. That tends to happen from time to time. My Apologies. So I'm in the market for a new day job. The goal is always band manager, but right now, that doesn't pay the rent. So, I've been interviewing like crazy. Due to my academic background, I've gotten audiences with some of the Fortune 100 companies. But really, OMG, it's soooo boring. Dress professional, sell your soul, blah, blah, blah. I'm sad that the record store is closing. I was digging that job. Unfortunately, I got really comfortable there. Maybe this is the push I need to get a move on. Life is funny that way. Just when you think you're safe, the rug is pulled from under you and it forces you to grow. I hate growing. Most of the time anyway.
In other news, I met Russell Simmons. Russell Simmons, the hip-hop mogul, not Richard Simmons, the groovin' to the oldies exercise enthusiast. He seemed really nice. We talked about gangster movies, mainly the Godfather and Scarface. However, we had a difference of opinion. I maintain that only I & II of the Godfather are great and relatively decent respectively. The third one is crap. I stand by that. Just because someone you know is in the third one, does not make it good. I'm sure Andy Garcia is an amazing person and his acting wasn't bad. The plot is what was atrocious. Incest, really? Between the illegitimate son and his 1st cousin? We're not talking about some backwater small town, this was supposedly NYC. I'm almost positive that's illegal in all 50 states. But hey, the laws are changing, what do I know? I know that I can only suspend my disbelief so much. As for Scarface, that movie's just awesome.

Tony Montana

So, first you get the money, then you get the power, then you get the women (or men in my case). I had a rather interesting evening with band.
It started out at the gig that they were playing at an intimate venue (read tiny), then we moved on to the titty bar for the bassist birthday, it wasn't my idea but definitely an experience. I would have tipped the dancers but they were mean, ...and scary, and there might have been whistles. Hhmm. Imagine how much whiskey I had to down to be agreeable to that. I'll give you a hint: I stumbled out of the bar previously.
So after the questionable choice in entertainment, we went back to the band's apartment, or members of the band rather, we had a dance party all our own. Actually, I took a nap first then I got to dancing. We danced until dawn as people milled in and out of the rooms to tend to their Tony Montana habits. Then there was breakfast made by an amazing chef at 5:30a. It was a good ending to an unforgettable evening. As everyone was starting to slink off to their beds or respective apartments, I bid adieu to my friends and began my trek home.
Getting in about 8, my roommate tucked me in to bed (literally) and I got the best day sleep a girl cold ever ask for.
P.S. Major ego boost, within 24hrs I got called an angel, quite sincerely too, and told I had a "great tushy" after it got groped. Raunch!

The highs and lows

So this has been a lousy week. and last week... it was A-maze-ing! I guess that's how it works. It's all about balance I guess. Last week my favorite blogger called me (me personally) gorgeous! It was hard to come down from that high. This week, I'm Brooklyn broke!!! :( But some good things have happened (silver lining people). My friend, who is a buyer brought me a bunch of clothes from their closet because she noticed that mine were too big. Glee! So this rough spot will pass. In other news, I have set some long term goals, that I'm quite excited about. Here's my plan people:
  • Become a day-to-day manager for several bands. I want to learn all that I can and do all that I can and be successful at it too.
  • From there be a tour manager. This is when I plan to live in Europe. I'm actually teaching myself French to prepare (it's a slow process). This way I can live anywhere and still work.
  • This is where the contingencies come in. If I find someone who matches my awesomeness, I might be willing to share with them and all the things that brings with it. I'm not a traditional girl but I'm not entirely opposed to that life. If this is the case, I go back to day-to-day manager for a while. It's a good way to maintain a stable life, that is if you have to share that life. If the prior contingency doesn't pan out, I will immediately get on track to be president/CEO of a music company. Yes, I know, lofty goals.
  • After I have achieved all this I will do something easy in retirement, teach children to dance. Little girls in tutus. I'm definitely looking forward to it.

That is my life's plan. Plans may change. I'm kinda planning for that and keeping loose parameters. Right now I feel like my life hasn't started yet. I just want it to start already.

Starting New

Hello Ladies and Gents!!!
Welcome to the new site. I'm starting a new chapter in my life and thought I should do my best to document it as well as other points of interest. You see, I left everything I knew to move to New York City. Amazing, adventurous, and scary all at the same time. It's quite an experience. I moved here to pursue a dream as a media manager. Basically it's a band manager. So far things are going swell. I intern for this great band Black Taxi and I manage a friends band Living in Polaroids. It's an enchanted life, but it's not easy. I will be chronicalling my adventures for your amusement. So sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
